Temporary works audit checklist
For auditing BS 5975-style procedural control on a live project. Professional design questions belong to your TWC and designers.
- Is a designated individual appointed at organisation level with documented arrangements?
- Is a TWC appointed in writing for this project, with authority and time to do the role?
- Does the register capture every temporary works item on site today — walk it and compare?
- Does every item have a design brief before design, and a design before erection?
- Are design checks at the right category, by checkers with the required independence?
- Are permits controlling the hold points: proceed, load, unload/strike?
- Do site conditions match the design assumptions — supports, ground, loads, sequence?
- Are alterations to temporary works going back through design, not improvised?
- Are inspections happening at the frequency the design or standard requires, with records?
- Do the operatives erecting and striking know the sequence and its limits?
